A Distinctive French Gold & Grey Marble Mantle Clock. c1880

This distinctive French Napoleon period clock in Neo-classical form and with ormolu mounts of a female head to each side and to the trophy cup top. The body is of an unusual gold and grey marble with molded layers both to the top and base. The base with ormolu mounts and rococo style feet

The 3 ½” white porcelain dial has Roman hour chapters and Arabic minute numbers every five minutes. The hands are pierced and of blued steel. The dial being protected by a gilt bezel with beveled glass.

This clock has a spring driven brass eight day time and strike movement with Brocot suspension and strikes the hours and half hour on a rear mounted bell
The rear plate is stamped with a medal of honor.
