A very decorative and small size Empire style mantle clock. The drum shaped case is surmounted on the back of a lion which in turn is standing on a rouge marble base. The marble base with decorative gilt feet has gilt floral mounts and gilt draped garlands. The gilt drum case is toped with a cone finial and supported by gilt leaf decoration. Front and rear doors are glazed in a convex form.
The white enamel dial, 3 ¼” diameter, with floral decoration inside the upright Arabic chapters with Arabic minutes at each 15 minute marker. The hands are of pierced gilt brass.
Circular plated eight day brass movement with twin barrels for time and strike, striking on a rear mounted bell. Platform escapement. Rear plate stamped with the number 435.
