A George III mahogany and chequer strung balloon bracket clock signed Richd. Runcorn, Manchester . c1790

A well proportioned mahogany balloon bracket clock with chequer-banded angles accentuating the waisted outline surmounted by a concave moulding with flambeau finial. The base on foliate ball-and-claw feet. Rear door with fretwork. Pull repeat hours.

Convex glazed brass bezel to the white painted 8 ¾” dial signed Richd. Runcorn, Manchester . Roman hour chapters and full minute band. Pierced brass matching hands.

The movement has heavy 7” diameter circular brass plates with five pillars, twin fusees and anchor escapement. Rack striking on a bell. The pendulum with calibration sector to the rod with lenticular bob and brass pendulum holdfast bracket attached to the base board.

Height 28”, width 15 ½”, and depth 9”. Weight is approximately 22 lbs.
