A fine clock by this very important family of clock and watch makers. This example has a walnut case in the shape of a drum with oak leaf and acorn carved bezel above a waisted double plinth, also with carved surround. The gold coloured dial is 7” diameter with black Roman numerals and blued steel hands, signed Arnold . The rear door is fitted with fretwork, the clock also winds from the rear.
The movement has 6 ¾” circular plates, twin fusee with chain drive striking in a gong . The platform lever escapement is mounted above the plates. This is a very substantial movement. The back plate is signed Arnold , 84 Strand , London . Number 766.
